The newest voices at newVoices

It’s been a long time since we’ve had such happy news to share! In the last year, Several of our singers welcomed new members of their families and we thought we’d share the happy news with you.Abby and Andy Schmidt welcomed Joanna Moore Schmidt (JoJo) into the world on September 25, 2016. Abby is the choir director at Winneconne High School and sings soprano in newVoices, Andy is the band director at Weyauwega-Fremont High School and sings baritone in newVoices. Little known fact about these great musicians—they are huge Star Wars nerds and one of the first outfits JoJo got was a mini-Princess Leia costume.Chelsey, Jason and Violet Burke welcomed Eloise Daniel Burke into the world on May 25, 2017. Chelsey is an alto in newVoices and works at the Renaissance School for the Arts in Appleton. If you attended our Cabaret fundraiser she entertained you with a version of “Taylor, the Latte Boy” while pregnant. Now that’s a trouper!Victoria and Benjamin Gruel welcolmed Henry Thomas Greuel with fireworks on July 5, 2017. Victoria is a teacher in the Menasha school district and sings soprano in newVoices. We missed her when she decided to sit out the Sea Symphony and are lookin forward to the return of her beautiful voice!And finally Dan and Elizabeth Van Sickle welcomed Evelyn Hazel Van Sickle on the morning of December 17, 2016. Her impending arrival came just as we were preparing to sing our first Green Bay Christmas concert (in a snowstorm), so Dan decided to attend the birth rather than sing the concert. Wise choice! Dan is our assistant conductor and his wife Elizabeth sings alto in the choir. We hope Evelyn finds her own voice, too.
