Welcome to newVoices!

It’s at once exciting and a little frightening to willfully change the name and identity of a group that’s been in existence for 35 years. Please know that this was not done on a whim. We loved the historic connection “White Heron Chorale” had—the ensemble was named after a trading post on the banks of the Fox River. But the practical reality was the lovely name was bungled by many—some called us the “White Hair Chorale” and some even thought “corral” was the preferred spelling! The new name and identity reflect much about the current organization as well as our future goals. In recent years, we have attracted more new singers and new audience members from throughout Northeast Wisconsin. We have also expanded to new venues, collaborated with more and more varied non-profit groups, and have presented exciting new music. Most notably, our organization has been revitalized by adding our first-ever executive director and appointing Phillip Swan as our artistic director. These two individuals are making exciting things happen! Our name was created with collaboration from board members, artistic leadership and patrons. Our new mark was developed with the help of Jon Henjum, owner of Henjum Creative. Over a period of several months, we explored a variety of names and logos and eventually selected the current mark.In the future, newVoices hopes to have a more regional impact; we hope to perform beyond the Fox Valley and we are exploring new ways to present the choral art form. Our goal is always to make fine, live choral music accessible to a broad audience and to spread the joy of singing!
