Together with Common Ground and Hope and Help Together, NEWVoices is hosting a community conversation on October 20 to discuss openly about immigrants and refugees that have made the Fox Valley their home. Read more and sign up here! Space is limited!
From its infancy, our country surged in growth through immigrants seeking a new life and new opportunities. Almost all of us share this story. This first concert (in a proposed series delving into immigration stories) will explore the broad topic of immigration through a new, large-scale work by Washington (state) composer, John Muehleisen and a newly commissioned work by Filipino-American composer, Saunder Choi. We are excited to present these and other new, fresh, thought-provoking choral works that allow us to discuss and reexamine perspectives on our shared history.
Also joining us for this concert will be our High School Master Singers, a select group of approximately 40 high school singers from 12 area schools. Special guest artists will include soprano Estelí Gomez and members of the Appleton Boychoir and Lawrence Community Girl Choirs.
Individual tickets: $25/10 for advanced adult and students respectively; $30/15 at door
Rise to New Opportunities is made possible by our Concert Partners Peter and Margaret Allen and is supported in part by a grant from the Community Vision Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and the Appleton Rotary Community Art Fund.
